BREAKING: Saturday evening, Aug. 24, the East Patrol Division (EPD) and Accident Investigation Section (AIS) of the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) dispatched into the Indian Mound neighborhood at St. John and Lawndale — answering a collision with critical injuries report.

A collision between a black Honda Nighthawk motorcycle and a grey BMW 3281, occurred at the intersection of St. John and Lawndale, according to a release from KCPD media unit.

In the primary investigation from EPD, it revealed the motorcycle failed to stop at a traffic stop near independence and Lawndale, leading the vehicle to continue northbound on Lawndale — a one-way, southbound street. As the Nighthawk entered the St. John and Lawndale intersection, it collided with the BMW, which was commuting east on St. John.

Upon collision, the motorcyclist — who was not wearing a helmet — was thrown from the vehicle. The driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition — this individual remains in the hospital in serious but stable condition, according to KCPD media unit.

The BMW motorist did not face any injuries in the crash.
