BREAKING: Saturday, Aug. 10 — just before 8:00 p.m., KCPD officers were dispatched to the area of 12th and Bellaire, according to a release from its media unit.

Upon arrival, they located an unresponsive party in a vehicle on the roadway. The adult male victim appeared to suffer from a gunshot wound. This victim was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS.

Officers have identified this individual as Daniel Bernassie. He was 47 years old.

KCPD is investigating this incident as a homicide. Detectives are canvassing the area to locate any possible witnesses. Crime scene investigators are also processing the scene for any physical evidence.

Detectives are working to identify all parties involved, as well as the events that led up to the victim being shot.
