Kansas City police (KCPD) report that a cyclist involved in an April 13 crash with a Freightliner on Truman Road has died.
On Sunday, May 8, the deceased was identified as 58-year-old Larry L. Nease.
Just after 3 p.m. on April 13, police and emergency crews responded to the intersection of Truman Road and Kensington Avenue in regard to a life-threatening collision involving a bicycle and a Freightliner 108SD truck.
The bicycle was traveling north on Kensington Avenue and the rider was holding a very large cauldron pot. The bicyclist failed to stop at the posted stop sign, rode onto Truman Road right into the side of the Freightliner truck.
The bicyclist was ejected from the bicycle, landing on Truman Road. He was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and two passengers in the Freightliner were not injured in the collision.
On May 3, 2023, KCPD was notified that the bicyclist involved in the collision was pronounced dead from his injuries.
This is the second cyclist fatality in Northeast Kansas City within a month.
