Art as Mentorship is hosting a free songwriting bootcamp for youth in Northeast KC. The Ignition Camp exists to ignite students’ creative spark. Our one-week bootcamp focuses on songwriting and mentorship from touring musicians, and culminates in students performing together at a public venue. We deconstruct the songwriting process so every student leaves the camp having participated in making an original song, which they get to perform on “the big stage!”
This year’s camp will be held on Harmony Project KC’s campus, June 5-9 with a final concert at Lemonade Park June 10! Lunch provided for students every day by Harvesters.
Art as Mentorship is a Kansas City-based non-profit organization working to transform young artists via world-class mentorship, real-world skill development, and mental health support. Our mission is to empower young people to write their own success stories. We envision an inclusive community where historically underrepresented artists are emboldened to raise their voices through music and believe the future will be made brighter by enabling the healing qualities of music to unite us and serve as a vehicle for social change.
