A cyclist is dead following a crash with a car on Tuesday evening, April 25.
At approximately 7:20 p.m., Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to the area of Independence and Denver avenues on a critical injury collision involving a bicyclist.
The initial investigation revealed that a silver Chevy Impala was traveling westbound on Independence Ave., approaching Denver. A bicyclist was crossing the Avenue from the south side of the street and was struck by the Impala, ejecting the cyclist from the bike.
The cyclist was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, where he died on April 27.
The driver of the Impala was not injured in the collision, stopping immediately and remaining at the scene.
The deceased, identified by neighbors as Silah Lulinda, was riding his bike as part of his daily exercise routine. A GoFundMe has been started for the family: https://gofund.me/2a4a814e.
