Those picking up holds from the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library will have the opportunity to visit a new Mobile Library.
While the North-East Branch has undergone renovations beginning in -, the collections and other materials have been in a temporary space across the street at 5930 Wilson Rd.
The Mobile Library will be in the parking lot of the temporary location on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and Friday, Oct. 23, for Pop In / Pick Up services. The library requires masks to be worn by anyone visiting library locations.
This week, the library staff began transferring materials into the newly-renovated space.
The Kansas City Public Library is also providing notary services to help registered voters with their absentee ballots. Mail-in and absentee ballot envelopes need to be notarized unless the voter is incapacitated or confined. More information on absentee and mail-in ballots can be found at kceb.org.
Every day until Election Day, Missouri voters can stop by the library’s notary drop-in sessions, which can be found on the library calendar. The calendar is updated with more events almost daily.
Seventeen library staff members earned their notary certification to help voters in the community.
The library is also assisting patrons who are facing the upcoming IRS Economic Impact Payment (EIP) collection deadline. More than 150,000 people in Kansas and Missouri haven’t collected their payment yet.
The Kansas City Public Library’s Career Resources and Financial Literacy Specialist has one-on-one appointments available to help submit requests to receive an EIP. Appointments can be scheduled online, or patrons looking for help can call 816-703-3663.
