Just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, Kansas City Police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Highland on a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult black female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
EMS responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene.
There is no suspect information at this time and the circumstances are still under investigation.
The scene is currently being processed by crime scene investigators. Detectives are canvassing the area for any witnesses or any information that could assist in what led up to the shooting.
