According to recent data, crime has decreased in Northeast Kansas City over the last five months.
Kansas City Police Department provided information on the number of aggravated assaults, murders, and robberies in the Northeast from July 2019 to November 17, 2019.
The data shows a steady decline in aggravated assaults from 27 in July to 5 in November. Armed robbery also decreased from 7 in July to 2 in November.
Greg Smith, Community Interaction Officer with the Kansas City Police Department, said it has been a community-wide effort.
“We will continue our efforts in attempting to maintain the low level of crime in the Northeast… we do not want to take any of the credit away from you all as your crime reporting has played a major role with the reduction in crime for the past few months. Please keep up the great work you all are doing, as you can see the effects of what a partnership (KCPD & NE Community) can achieve. Thank you all again for your hard work, and let’s continue concentrating our efforts in keeping the Northeast quiet and safe.”
