Jenn Isaacs sells jewelry at Vulcan’s Forge in Westport.  She lives in the Lykins neighborhood and she said she loves riding the bus.

“I don’t even have a driver’s license,” she said. “I meet the most amazing people on the bus and sometimes I don’t ever get to talk to them again. I usually meet someone who knows someone I know. Kansas City’s funny like that.”

Originally from Texas, Isaacs moved to Kansas City in 2005 and has lived in Historic Northeast since 2010.

She has two children, a 20-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son who attends a Kansas City public school.

She lives with her husband and son in a bungalow that was built in 1901, complete with a nice front porch and beautiful old cabinetry.

“This house is great. It’s got lots of character,” she said. “And it’s so much cheaper to live here than elsewhere in the city. I love it here and people look at me like I’m crazy when I say that, but they don’t know it the way I know it.”

Isaacs said she likes to visit the BP gas station near her house on Independence Avenue.

“I know everyone who works there and they know me,” she said.

She helps keep the alley behind BP clean, and she appreciates all of the work that the Independence Avenue CID has put into keeping that space clean.
