Though many may think common sense and City Hall are two terms that just don’t go together, this newshound may have seen a glimmer of sense come out of there recently. Oxymoronic or not, the Bill Skaggs snow removal plan sure seems to hold water with this newshound.

Instead of making excuses and trying to clear every inch of every street in the metro, Skaggs says why not get a school bus route map from the area school districts and lay it over an existing city street map and see how they compare, putting priorities on clearing the school bus routes first, then focus on secondary and tertiary thoroughfares.

Wow! Why didn’t anyone think of that before now? Well, while the jury deliberates that one, we’ll just say we hope these annexation-minded elected council folks will realize we can’t seem to take care of what we have now and table indefinitely any notion or plan that would continue to deny urban core residents the basic city services offered freely and often in the ‘burbs.

This newshound got a chance to witness the arrival of the vintage Lockheed L-1011 Tri-Star airplane make its arrival at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport over the weekend. The plane (see photo, above) will be a fixture at the Airline History Museum.
