KANSAS CITY – Kansas City Police have identified the victim in Sunday’s shooting near the 18th and Vine District.

Officers were called to 18th and Vine Sunday, Feb. 3 just before 2 a.m. in response to a sound of shots call. Upon arrival, residents who gathered at the scene alerted police there was a shooting victim down the street at 19th and Vine. Officers found an adult black male deceased in a vehicle on 19th street who had succumbed to a gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as Jackie Johson, 25.

Police say a short time later, a second adult black male who had apparently been shot at the same location arrived at the hospital.  He is currently in serious condition, and his identity has not been released.

Detectives are actively working to determine what led up to this shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 474-TIPS anonymously.

The Homicide Unit is attempting to locate the pictured vehicle in regard to this homicide. The vehicle is believed to have been involved in the homicide. It is a white SUV with black door handles, sunroof, dark tinted windows, and a black luggage rack.
