This week on the Northeast Newscast, managing editor Paul Thompson sits down with Healing House founder and Executive Director Bobbi Jo Reed, who began the non-profit addiction recovery organization in 2003. Reed discusses the genesis of Healing House, her most prideful moments leading the non-profit, the organization’s Saturday, November 18 ribbon cutting ceremony for its new fellowship hall and addiction recovery center (112 Elmwood), and Reed’s plans for the future of Healing House.

On the genesis of the Healing House ministry, Bobbi Jo Reed discussed her own struggles with addiction.

“I went through treatment myself 22 years ago. So I started working with women; I started carrying the message to detoxes and hospitals and jails,” Reed said. “There were 900 women going through treatment in our city every year with less than 30 safe beds for them when they got out of in-patient treatment. People didn’t want to be bothered with women; they came with too many issues.”

“The Lord just started putting it on my heart that I needed to do something.”
