April 20, 2011

This li’l pooch would like to send out props to Truman High School Debate Coach and Northeast resident (and co-publisher of this weekly media machine) Christine Adams.

Chris was honored this weekend at the MSHSAA State Debate Tournament and received the 2010-2011 Outstanding Speech, Debate and Theater Educator of the Year award.

Nominated for the award by her peers from across the state, Adams has been involved in high school debate for more than 34 years, and has qualified students to the National Tournament for more than 30 years running as a high school coach.

We’re a pretty proud pup this week. Maybe this will translate into a kibble bonus for us!

The rush is on!

Charter Schools from all over the metro are lining up to score big bargains on vacant KCMSD facilities.

Scuola Vita Nuova has been cramped for space for quite some time and has been eying some alternative sites more equitable for expansion of their charter school.

Stay tuned – this story is in its infancy, especially given the number of buildings vacated by the KCMSD this last year.

Area charters could very well have the pick of the litter when it comes to a new building.

Some trivia-minded folks from Historic Northeast teamed up on a recent Saturday evening to take the top honors at the Messiah Lutheran School Trivia Tournament fundraiser.

Bushnell, Reed, Wagner and Peterson families all teamed up to walk away with the blue ribbon for knowing more useless information than any other team present. Look for the idea to be transplanted to a Northeast area neighborhood association, too.
