Artsy trash barrels will dot Concourse Park April 16 for the first-ever “Green Art Day.”

A slew of green inspired activities are scheduled, thanks to Parisole Arts Foundation, Scarritt Renaissance, Kansas City Museum and Mosaic Brain.

It’s all to celebrate Earth Day.

“I think it’s great to see Concourse Park used for creative and artistic activities that especially get the kids involved in the neighborhood,” said Adam Schieber, president of Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association.

The event is open to all and free of charge. Scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Green Art Day will offer several activities. Attendees will be encouraged to paint and decorate trash barrels with supplies provided by Parisole. Later, the trash barrels will be set up throughout Northeast to encourage residents to throw away their trash.

Other activities will include a flower pot and planting craft, jugglers, dancers and hula hoopers, among other green activities.

“I hope it’s just another positive that people see in our neighborhood,” said Amanda Stinger, Green Art Day volunteer and member of the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association. “I hope the message of Earth Day gets across as far as recycling, reusing and using the trash cans that are widely available.”
