KANSAS CITY, Missouri — To help residents with downed branches and debris from last night’s storm, the city is waiving fees for leaf and brush drop-off sites this weekend.
According to a press release from city officials, leaf and brush drop-off sites will also be open on Sunday, June 28, to accommodate residents. Currently, the city is still assessing the damage to determine whether or not curbside brush collection is required.
Choteau and N. Main brush drop-off sites are open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28. Raytown brush drop-off site will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28.
The city is asking its residents to report downed trees in the public right of way by calling 311 or contacting@KCMO311. The city’s 311 call center is fully staffed today; however, they are currently experiencing high call volume. A complete list of resources and updates can be found online at www.kcmo.gov/storm. City officials and staff have been working to assess damage since 2 a.m. Currently 1,500 city employees, in their offices or on the streets, are responding to storm damage.
Traffic signals are being restored as quickly as possible. Non-functioning traffic signals should be treated as 4-way stops.
The KCMO Water Services Department and KCMO Parks and Recreation offices are currently closed due to power outage. If you’re experiencing a power outage, please report it to 1-888-LIGHT-KC (1-888-544-4852). Also, stay away from downed power lines.
