KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City Museum’s sign removal ceremony has been postponed.

Because of downed tree branches and power lines, the event scheduled for Saturday, June 27, will be moved to a later date. No time and date has yet to be determined. The museum is also closed today, Friday, June 26, due to needed maintenance after the inclement weather.

In an email to Northeast stakeholders, Anna Marie Tutera, executive director of the Kansas City Museum, said she’s sorry to postpone the event, but wants it to be special.

The Kansas City Museum planned to invite the neighborhood over for breakfast and to watch the removal of the sign on Corinthian Hall that reads “Kansas City Museum of History and Science.” In a recent story previewing the event, Tutera said the sign is an important part of the museum’s history.

“And we wanted to make sure the community comes together for its acknowledgement,” Tutera said.
