KANSAS CITY, Missouri — A business owner was arrested and charged with multiple felonies charges over the weekend after attempting to rape a customer.
According to a press release from Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker, Dennis A. Skeen, 37, of Blue Spring, Mo., has been charged with attempted rape, sexual abuse and sodomy. Skeen is the owner of Downtown Pizza Company.
According to court documents, police were dispatched to Downtown Pizza Company, 1501 Grand Ave., to contact three witnesses in regards to an alleged rape. The witnesses stated that while walking past the business, they happened to look inside and saw a female victim, unconscious, on the floor by the bar. The witnesses added they saw Skeen having sex with the victim. The witnesses pounded on the window to get the attention of the defendant, who then dragged the victim towards the back room of the bar. The witnesses called 911 and when police arrived, the victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The defendant was located within the business and taken into custody, and was transported to the Jackson County Detention Center.
The documents note that the woman was sitting at the bar with Skeen and was drinking a couple of beers. Skeen allegedly gave her two shots of alcohol. The woman said the last thing she remembers was that the time was around 3 a.m.
Prosecutors requested a $100,000 cash only bond.
