KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City Fire Department were called to an early morning fire in the Northeast on Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Fire crews were responded to a fire at National Pawn shop, at Truman Road and Belmont Avenue, at around 6 a.m. and were greeted by a building that was nearly engulfed in flames. According to Fire Battalion Chief James Garret, firefighters quickly attacked the blaze, which started in a warehouse attached to the business. Intense flames, however, forced fire crews to retreat to a defensive position and call in a second alarm.

According to Garrett, about eleven crews were still out on the blaze 90 minutes after being called to the scene. After the fire is brought under control, investigators will try and determine the cause of the blaze. No damage estimates were available at this time and no injuries were reported.
