KANSAS CITY, Missouri — One man is dead after a early morning shooting outside of City Hall.
The shooting occurred at 12th and Oak Streets at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12. Police said the suspect was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Police have blocked off 11th Street from Locust to McGee Streets, as well as Oak Street from 10th to 12th Streets. The KCPD has not yet released the name of the victim, who died shortly after being transported to an area hospital. KCPD officials did say, however, the victim worked in the area but was not an elected official.
Chris Hernandez, Director of City Communications, said City Hall remains open and is advising people to use the south entrance, which is accessible from Locust Street and from 12th Street. The KC Biz Care Office, 1118 Oak St., however will be closed today because its entrance is within the area blocked off by police investigators.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
