KANSAS CITY, Missouri – This weekend, runners are heading for the cliff.
The Cliff Hanger Run takes participants along the Cliff Drive Scenic Byway. This year’s race takes place on Sunday, Nov. 2.
The Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) once again serves as host of the 8K and 5K race, as runners will begin and end on the school’s campus.
There are two start times for the race, as the 5K will kick-off first at 8 a.m. followed by the 8K at 9 a.m. The two races will both be awarded and timed separately. The 5K and 8K are a part of The Kansas City Track Club Race Series, but nly the 8K is a part of the MARA Grand Prix. Awards will go to the top three male and female finishers and to top three in age groups 14 – 19, through 80 and older. There are also special award categories for children under 14-years-old. There will also be awards for first place male, female, co-ed and largest teams.
For the safety of runners, no dogs, headphones, skateboards, in line skates or bicycles are allowed. Those who use strollers must walk and remain at the back of the race.
Registration is still open and will be available on the day of the race. Register to run for only $30, or $28 per runner participating in a team run, by Oct. 31. After Halloween, registration increases to $35 per person or $33 per team member. To register for the race, visit https://register.chronotrack.com/reg/form?eventID=7258.
Awards will be given during the post-race pancake breakfast at the KCUMB student cafeteria. Breakfast is free to runner participants and costs $6 for family and friends. Parking will be available at KCUMB, 1750 E. Independence Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Participants may park in any parking lot, except those blocked off by race organizers.
