KANSAS CITY, Missouri — City officials want to make sure you’re aware of runners around Kansas City, Mo. on Saturday, Oct. 25.
First, the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Run kicks-off at 8 a.m. at Liberty Memorial. The run then heads north on Kessler Road to Pershing Road, east on Pershing (across Main) to Grand Boulevard, north on Grand to Truman Road, east on to Truman to McGee Street, south on McGee to Pershing, west on Pershing to Grand, south on Grand to 27th Street, west on 27th Street (across Main) and ending on Liberty Memorial property.
According to its website, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 300 communities to finish the fight. Every breast cancer walk and event is an opportunity to honor those who have battled breast cancer, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our breast cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with research, information, services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.

Saturday evening, from 7 – 9 p.m., the Monster Dash 5k will take over the City Market. The race starts at Third Street and Grand Boulevard, heads north on Grand, continues onto River Front Road, then east on Front Street, northeast on River Front Road, turns west on River Front Road before heading south on Grand Boulevard to Finish.
The Monster Dash 5K Run maneuvers through the City Market and gives the participants a chance to win age group awards and costume awards. There will be plenty of treats for everyone in this holiday themed event and the flat and fast race course gives everyone a chance.
Participants of the Monster Dash 5K, will receive: IPICO chip timing, gender sized cotton participants shirt, finisher’s medal, top overall, masters, and five year age group awards, an aid station on the course, large mile markers, and great post race food and beverages. All Lil’ Monsters’ Kids Run participants will receive a shirt and a ribbon.
