KANSAS CITY, Missouri — City officials are advising motorists that area events will impact traffic in the 18th & Vine District Saturday and Downtown on Sunday.

Taking place on Saturday, the Niles Home 5k will affect traffic around the 18th and Vine District. The race begins at the Niles Home for Children, 1911 E. 23rd St., winding its way through the 18th & Vine District and ending at the Niles Home for Children. The race will impact traffic from approximately 8 – 11 a.m.

For more information about the race, visit www.nileshomekc.org.

The Kansas City, Mo., Police Department is sponsoring the ninth annual Broadway Bridge Run on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Proceeds of the race will benefit the Special Olympics Missouri, which is KCPD’s charity of choice. The race will feature a half-marathon, 10k and 5k. The half-marathon and 10K will begin at 7 a.m. with the 5k starting shortly after at 7:20.

Due to construction in the City Market, the race’s traditional start and finish point has been moved to the area in front of the Sprint Center on Grand Boulevard between 13th and 14th Streets. The Broadway Bridge will be shut down during the event. Rolling road closures also will impact downtown during the race, from the Charles Wheeler Downtown Airport south to 27th Street, and from Broadway east to The Paseo.

There’s still time to sign up to run or volunteer for the event. To do so, or for more information, visit www.broadwaybridgerun.org.

Please observe caution and obey all posted detours, barricades and no parking signs. Police are prepared to allow motorists to cross the routes when they deem it safe for race participants.
