KC Museum Hard Hat Tour

Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100+ year old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will also tour the exhibit inside Corinthian Hall: Planning for the Future: Find History at Kansas City Museum. Admission is free and this week’s tours will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and at noon on Sunday at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.

Back to School Crafts

Join the North-East Library at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, to design your own notebooks, pencil boxes and more! *Free school supplies donated by the Optimist Club of Kansas City (Downtown) will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. For kids and teens.

 

Friday, August 8

Story Time and Craft

Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. Parents and kids will enjoy stories geared toward toddlers and pre-schoolers. Get ready for songs, tongue twisters and dramatic play.

 

Saturday, August 9

Spanish lessons

Join the North-East Library for free Spanish lessons. Two ongoing sessions are available for the cost of a free will donation. Beginner classes take place every Saturday from 10 a.m. – noon and advanced classes follow from noon – 2 p.m. To enroll, contact learnwithpepe@hotmail.com.

Computer Class

Learn what the Internet and your Internet browser can do. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.

 

Monday, August 11

Taco Dinner

Daughters of Columbus will host and sponsor a taco dinner at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11 at the Sons of Columbus Hall, 2415 Independence Avenue. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dinner includes tacos, beans, rice and a dessert.

 

Tuesday, August 12

Kansas City Digital Media Lab

The KCDML is open to youth ages 13-18 every Tuesday from 3:30 – 7 p.m. at the Kansas City Library. It’s a safe space for youth who are interested in, or want to learn more about storytelling and/or coding. You’ll have access to equipment and adult collaborators to learn, create, and grow. All of the adult collaborators have had background checks and are simply available to help youth take their expertise and interest to the next level.

Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association Meeting

The Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association will host its monthly meeting from 7 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, 1750 E. Independence Ave.

Independence Plaza Neighborhood Council Meeting

The Independence Plaza Neighborhood Council will host its monthly meeting from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Woodland Elementary School, 711 Woodland Ave.

Enjoy some deep fried catfish from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the NBA Church, 200 N. Bales Ave. Dine-in and delivery services are available for $7.50 and $9, respectively. The menu also includes coleslaw, potato salad, hush puppies french fries and mac and cheese.
