A Kansas City entrepreneur won big on the newly launched nationally-syndicated radio show Dream Big America, where she faced off against two other entrepreneurs on the show.

Alicia Herald, Kansas City native and chief executive officer (CEO) of www.myEDmatch.com, won during the first broadcast of Dream Big America, the first radio show of its kind to pit vetted entrepreneurs against one another. To win, Herald had to earn the most listener votes.

“I think it is a cool opportunity to be on the first (Dream Big America) show,” Herald said. “Since Dream Big America is on a national market it gives more exposure to my company. Just about everyone knows a teacher and by being on this show it can help people to tell the teachers, so the teachers can know about what services myEDmatch provides.”

Herald’s company helps teachers find the best teaching jobs available and allows for schools to search for teachers to add to their staff. She says her beta website, which launched in February, has already had approximately 15,000 teachers and 300 schools in more than 25 states register with her company.

Since Herald received the most votes for the show, she is the winner of the week and will automatically be one of the finalists for the month of July. Herald will compete against two other week’s winners July 30. The winner for the month of July will be announced Thursday, Aug. 1.

Dream Big America airs each Tuesday of each month from 9:10 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on Doug Stephan’s Good Day program. Voting opens up to listeners immediately after the show for 28 hours until 2 p.m. EDT each Wednesday. Voting can be done via text by texting DBA to 612-22-DREAM (612-223-7326) or online at www.DreamBigAmerica.us. Winners of each week are announced every Thursday, two days after the Tuesday broadcast, on Stephan’s Good Day Show at 9:50 a.m. EDT.

“Being in the finals round gives me the chance to tell people again about our company where we can provide more updates about us,” Herald said.

Herald also said it was exciting to be on the show and win the first Dream Big America show.

The Tuesday, July 16, show will feature three new entrepreneurs; one of the competing companies is also from Kansas City, Mo. Allison Carenza, CEO of Looky Loo Light from Kansas City, will explain how her company creates a wireless camera attachment to capture a child’s attention during a photo shoot. CEO David Phillips of The ReWall Company from Des Moines, Iowa, will tell listeners how his company is the first to manufacture 100 percent recycled composite panels and ceiling tiles from beverage cartons and their components. CEO Eric Quick will provide insight to listeners about his Sunnyvale, Calif., company called Froovie and how it combines organic fruits and vegetables into a drinkable snack.

Although there is not a Kansas City radio station that airs Stephan’s Good Day Show, Kansas Citians can listen to his program online at www.DreamBigAmerica.us.
