Employees at Central Bank of Kansas City weren’t thinking about money Feb. 5. They were thinking about hearts.

February is “healthy heart month,” and to coincide with that theme, the bank hosted a health screening and giveaway event Feb. 5.

More than 100 people attended the event and 25 people took advantage of the free screenings, which checked for glaucoma, blood glucose levels and blood pressure.

“It goes along with the healthy lifestyle and I wanted to get some more information out there and really hit it home for people, especially people who can’t afford to get a health screening. It was nice to be able to offer that,” said Sarah Cousineau, director of marketing and community outreach for Central Bank of Kansas City.

In addition to offering health screenings, Central Bank gave away a myriad of prizes, including two six-month memberships to YMCA, Apple Market grocery gift cards, Schlitterbahn tickets and other goodies.

“I hope they (attendees) got some good information on where they are health-wise and will be able to make changes if they need to,” Cousineau said. “I hope they also had a good time and know that Central Bank is part of the community and really does care about its customers.”
