UPDATE: The homicide victim in this case has been identified as twenty years old Nicholas West of Kansas City.

Just after 10:00 a.m. this morning Kansas City Missouri police officers were dispatched to the area of 8th and Olive on a sound of shots call.

Upon arrival officers located one adult male suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. That individual was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Officers were then directed to another vehicle down the street where they located an adult male inside a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Kansas City Fire Department EMS crews arrived on the scene and declared the victim deceased.

The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown.  There is no one in custody at this time and we have no reason to believe there is an immediate risk to the public.
