This week on the Northeast Newscast, we are both celebrating the women who raised us and congratulating those who are graduating from educational institutions in the neighborhood and around the metro. Kansas City University student Paola Candia is graduating from medical school this weekend, and she’s had a long road to get here. She is joining me this week to discuss diversity in medicine and the importance of community in higher education.

Paola is graduating on May 8 from Kansas City University’s medical school, and the following day she and her mother are starting their drive to Washington for her residency. They plan on stopping at some national parks on the way, and she said her mom is excited to finally visit the pacific northwest.
