A homicide victim was found by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department at the intersection of Truman Rd. and Hardesty Ave. just after 10 p.m. on Monday, April 16.

Officers initially observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection. Upon closer inspection, the officers saw two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside the vehicle. Responders from the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department were called and subsequently declared one of the two victims deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in life-threatening condition.

The homicide was the 38th recorded in Kansas City, Missouri in 2018. KCPD urges anyone with information related to this incident to call the TIPS hotline at (816) 474-8477.

In an unrelated incident, KCPD also found a dead body at 6100 Wilson Rd. on the afternoon April 16, just before 5 p.m. At this point, the police department is conducting a death investigation; a medical examiner has not yet determined whether the death was due to natural causes.

Police were dispatched when a friend of the deceased made an ambulance call after being unable to reach the individual.

“We were contacted by a friend who couldn’t make contact,” said Luis Colón, Media Unit Captain.
