Exploratory holes were drilled last Friday in preparation for the installation of the new warning system scheduled to be installed later this month. The new holes prompted a number of calls over the weekend to the city’s Public Works Department, which had given assurances of a second community engagement session with stakeholders to discuss the exact location of the system’s support poles.

Fourth District City Councilman Crispin Rea said in an emailed statement, “City staff has taken the community feedback into consideration and the  general area of the original location remains the most viable spot.”  The excavation is exploratory in nature to determine the exact location of utility easements that run along property lines. Rea stated that a second engagement session with stakeholders will be scheduled soon.
