KANSAS CITY, Missouri – It’s Friday afternoon, which means that it’s officially time to begin making plans for the weekend, if you haven’t already. Thankfully, we here at the Northeast News have some ideas to help get the conversation started:
Friday, July 15: Third Fridays in Columbus Park
Check out the art scene in Columbus Park on Third Fridays, which will be held tonight beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Trap Gallery (525 Gillis) will be showing Charles Ray’s exhibit ‘Pontification of Nothingness’ from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Kiosk Gallery (916 E. 5th St.), 815 Gallery (815 E. 5th St.), and Blau Space Gallery (520 Gillis) will also be featuring exhibits. The Columbus Park Ramen Shop and The North End will be open and serving food, while Hail Coffee and the Cirque du Suqre sweets truck will also be on site.
Saturday, July 16: Art in the Garden
Stop by the Northeast’s renowned bed and breakfast, Inn at 425 (425 Gladstone), between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to see the work of five local artists: Evie Englezos (Ceramics), Jackie Haltom (Graphic design, mixed media art), Rebecca Koop (Stoneware and porcelain pottery),
Shane Rowse (Photography), Peggy Wilson (Oils and watercolor), and Dr. Ed Kendrick (photography). Artwork will be on display at the Inn’s stunning garden, and attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase their favorite pieces.
Saturday, July 16: Northeast Community Days at Budd Park
Join Northeast residents for some water fun at Budd Park (5400 St. John Ave.) on Saturday, July 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Community Days celebration will feature slip-n-slide kickball, grilled hot dogs, water balloon fights, and much more. This event is free to attend, and everyone is invited. Come one, come all!
Saturday, July 16: Summer Dusk 2016 Free Concert Series
Stop by Concourse Park in the Colonnade Building on Saturday, July 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for a free concert, courtesy of Northeast Arts KC. The Summer Dusk 2016 concert series features live music on every third Saturday this summer. This month’s performers will be Triflemore & Rex Hobart, who will be playing Scottish folk music and Americana, respectively. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a cooler to this fan-friendly event.
