KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Kansas City Police officers said there were no injuries after a semi-truck crashed into a building along Independence Avenue last Friday morning.

Around 7 a.m. last Friday, Dec. 26, officers on the scene said the tractor-trailer crashed into the building at 3017 Independence Ave., near the intersection of Independence Avenue and Benton Boulevard. Authorities believed the truck released from the park brake and rolled into Yvette Decoraciones, a decorations store. The business was closed at the time and the driver was not in the truck at the time of the crash. The truck damaged the front of Yvette’s Decorations and the overhang for the neighboring front porch.

City engineers spent Friday assessing the damage done to the building.

This isn’t the first time this intersection saw damage to a building this year. This past August, a church at the same intersection collapsed.
