At approximately 3 p.m. this afternoon, Kansas City Missouri firefighters responded to a residential fire in the 300 block of North Van Brunt Boulevard.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a large tree in the backyard of a residence home had burned around 30 feet down the center of the tree causing branches to fall off the tree, said Brian Parks, battalion chief at Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD).

KCFD was able to put the fire out within 30 minutes after it initially started. No damages were caused to the house or the surrounding houses around the tree and no one was injured.

The cause for the fire is unclear, but neighbor Jackie Bridges speculates it could have been caused by tree trimmers who were working to cut branches off the tree earlier that morning.
