Sometimes the dog gets it wrong. Despite best efforts to vet sources, this newsdog sometimes gets things a little wrong. Such is the case with last week’s column in regards to support (or lack thereof) for the save Thacher School initiative.
I’ll stand by my comment about the School District’s re-purposing committee being a stepping stone to building demolition. Given its track record of repeated failures when it comes to building preservation, we’ll not waver our stance one iota.
But this opinionated pooch was called on the carpet by folks from both Scarritt Renaissance and NEKCHS [Northeast Kansas City Historical Society] for comments written last week about their lack of support for the save Thacher effort. Scarritt President Leslie Caplan and NEKCHS head honcho Kent Dicus have both penned excellent letters to the editor published in this week’s edition that spell out in detail their level of support. To that end, consider this my canine mea culpa.
This news-sniffin’ poochie pens these weekly words to spur dialogue and incite action for the good of our neighborhoods. We’re gonna continue that dialogue and welcome your opinions whether they agree or disagree with this ol’ dog’s position. The more dialogue we have as a community, the stronger we are overall. Keep those opinions comin’ folks.
