Kansas City Police Officers responded to the 300 block of N. Van Brunt Blvd at roughly 1:30 this afternoon on the report of an injury collision with critical injuries.

According to police reports, a red and green Honda scooter was traveling north on Van Brunt at a high rate of speed when a juvenile was crossing Van Brunt on Sunrise in a black, caged go-kart traveling east to west.

As the go-kart entered the northbound lanes of Van Brunt, the operator of the scooter executed a faulty evasive maneuver causing him to be ejected from the scooter. The scooter operator was not wearing a helmet and was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

The go-kart operator was not injured and the investigation is ongoing.
