Worthy Sir Knight Reginald W. “Reggie” Pierce, age 76, of Northeast Kansas City passed away at Northcare Hospice House on Saturday June 18, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 22, 2011, with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are by McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, Kansas City, Mo.
Reggie was born on Feb. 19, 1935, in Kansas City, Kan., to Thomas and Esther (Snipes) Pierce. He was a lifelong area resident, making his home in the Historic Northeast area. He worked as a driver for Orschlen Brothers Truck Lines and later in life gained an associates degree and worked as a nurse tech at North Kansas City Hospital.
He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and before that St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, now Our Lady of Peace. He was proud of his association with the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Glennon Council 4613 and Fr. Bernard Donnelly Assembly of the Fourth Degree. Reggie was an active member of AA and was instrumental in the founding of various local chapters. He and his predeceased wife, Mary (2001) were founding members of the Blue Valley Neighborhood Association and the Northeast Crime Crusade and both worked closely with the East Patrol Division of KCPD.
Also preceding him in death are two daughters, Linda and Mary Annette.
Surviving family includes his three children and their spouses, Alan (Robin) Pierce, Nan (Dennis) Hanna, and Ruth (Jack) Dibben; one grandson, three granddaughters and a great-grandson.
