KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Paul Mesner’s Puppet Theater performed “The Stinky Cheese Man” puppet show on Friday, July 25, to a crowd of about 50 children at the North-East Public Library. The puppet show is part of the Kansas City Public Library Summer Reading Program, Fizz Boom Read, which will put on activities and performances for children through Aug. 2.

The puppet show was based on the popular book (of the same title) by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith, which takes traditional, well-known stories like Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood and twists the plots and names to make them more silly. In the show, Little Red Riding Hood was called Little Red Running Shorts, for example, and Chicken Licken instead of Chicken Little.
