KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Kansas City Public Works crews working on a sidewalk at 8th Street and Park Avenue earlier this morning came under fire from a person on an apartment balcony nearby.

According to police, the suspect started yelling at the crew telling them to leave, then started firing shots in their direction. The Public Works employees fled the scene and notified police. However, the crew left one of their city trucks at the scene, which the suspect promptly stolen. He was apprehended a short time later, about four blocks away near 9th and Prospect, and was taken in to custody. No injuries were reported and the city truck was recovered.
