KANSAS CITY, Missouri — City officials are asking for your creative help.

Artspace Projects, Inc., a nonprofit developer of affordable spaces for artists and creative workers, is visiting Kansas City, Mo., to conduct a Community Needs and Use Assessment public meeting. This assessment will help Kansas City explore options for developing multi-use and affordable living and work spaces. Artspace Projects, Inc. will examine the needs specific to Kansas City’s arts community in terms of space and amenities, affordability, and location preferences.

The public is invited to attend a town hall meeting from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at the Kansas City Library Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St., to learn more about Artspace Project, Inc. and to provide thoughts and feedback on the need and capacity for new development in Kansas City to support the creative community. Ideas gathered at the meeting will be used by Artspace Projects, Inc. to gauge community support for the development project. Artspace will then deliver a feasibility assessment, which will be used by city leaders to propose next steps.

The mission of Artspace Projects, Inc. is to create, foster and preserve affordable space for artists and arts organizations. The organization pursues this mission through development projects, asset management activities, consulting services and community-building activities that serve artists and arts organizations of all disciplines, cultures and economic circumstances. By creating this space, Artspace Projects, Inc. supports the continued professional growth of artists and enhances the cultural and economic vitality of the surrounding community.
