The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) is investigating a suspicious death in relation to the apartment fire on the morning of Oct. 17, 2022, at 918 Benton Blvd.
On Oct. 28, the victim was identified as 45-year-old Stanley Singleton.
This morning around 2:30 a.m., the Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD) was dispatched to a fire at the Dorson Apartments.
During their search and rescue, they located a victim, an adult male, who was unresponsive. The victim was transported to the hospital.
The victim was declared deceased at the hospital. KCPD’s Bomb and Arson investigators responded to the scene.
Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, homicide detectives responded to the scene as well as crime scene technicians.
This is considered a suspicious death investigation at this time until the medical examiner’s office makes an official ruling on the death.
