KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Have you checked your blinker fluid this week? How about the fluid in your tires? If you’re a woman and have fallen prey to either of these jokes, you may be a great candidate for tomorrow’s class at the Guadalupe Center that will give women a greater working knowledge of their vehicles.

East patrol CIO Jason Cooley will teach the almost four-hour class on how to recognize what’s under the hood of your vehicle, but also how to avoid falling victim to potential criminals if a breakdown were to occur. Upon conclusion of the class participants will be walked out to their vehicles walked through an on-site inspection of their cars.

“The training is being provided to empower women with the knowledge to be able to take care of their own vehicles and hopefully not end up on the side of the road stranded and vulnerable,” Cooley said.

The class will begin at 10 a.m. in Holter Hall at the Guadalupe Center, 5123 Truman Road. The class is open and free to the public. Light refreshments will be provided around the lunch hour. The class is sponsored by the Kansas City Police Department, in partnership with local Auto Zones, Cosentino’s Price Chopper and the Van Brunt Pizza Hut. Spanish translation services will be provided.
