KANSAS CITY, Missouri – A man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition early this morning after sustaining gunshot wounds while driving and subsequently crashing his vehicle into the front yard of a Northeast home.

Officers responded to a home near the intersection of Scarritt Avenue and N. Oakley just before 4:00 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, November 3, finding the victim unconscious in his car and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. According to information released by the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, the incident began near the intersection of Scarritt and N. Lawn, where officers were initially dispatched on reports of a shooting. Officers were also dispatched to the address at Scarritt and N. Oakley to investigate the final resting point of the vehicle, and later determined that the two scenes were related.

In an update sent late Thursday morning, Sgt. Kari Thompson of the KCPD Media Unit indicated that the victim was presently in stable condition.
