Update: the victim in this case has been identified as 15-year old Aaron Amparan of Kansas City.

evening just before 6pm Kansas City, MO police officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of E 13th St on a reported shooting call.

Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile teen male lying in the street near a vehicle that had struck a light pole.
The teen was unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid until EMS arrived and took over EMS transported the victim to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Two additional teen males were located nearby suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. They were transported to an area hospital by EMS.

Preliminary investigation is believed that the victims and occupants of another vehicle engaged in an exchange of gunfire, with another unknown vehicle in the area.

We do not have a person of interest in custody at this time. Detectives do not believe there is a threat to the surrounding areas related to this incident at this time.

This scene is being invested as a homicide and it’s considered ongoing at this time.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.

It is unknown whether this is a retaliation shooting from today’s esrlier homicide at the Express Stop in the 4800 block of Independence Avenue.
