Just before 10 pm Wednesday evening, Kansas City MO Police officers were dispatched to the Superior Mini Mart at 5522 St John Ave on a reported sounds of shots call. While enroute the call was updated to a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male lying on the sidewalk suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. EMS personnel were called to the scene and the victim was declared deceased.
The victim has been identified as twenty seven year old Nicolas Irachata of Kansas City.
The circumstances leading up to the homicide are unknown. There is no one in custody at this time.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have processed the scene to recover any evidence and spoke to any potential witnesses.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS which leads to an arrest in the case.
KCPD is working with Partners for Peace in all homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
This is the city’s 176th homicide of the year, the second on St. John Ave. and the third in Northeast, all within a week’s period of time. There have been four homicides recorded in Northeast for the month of December.
