The Northeast News is seeking qualified summer interns

Qualifications

The candidate should have at least two years of university-level news reporting experience on a variety of platforms including print, video, social media, and broadcast. The successful candidate must be deadline-oriented and able to produce well-written, quality news stories on a daily and weekly basis.

Details

Internships are approximately 25-30 hours per week with some weekend or evening work possible. This is a paid internship with the opportunity to earn college credit through the intern’s school.

Being a community weekly publication in Kansas City’s urban core, the Northeast News can offer a unique perspective on news gathering and presenting.

Through print, digital, social media, and our digital media partners One Kansas City Radio 100.1, we can offer the successful intern the opportunity to be an integral part of an active community news organization.

Given our small staff, there are interface opportunities with all full-time team members, including design, sales, editorial staff and publisher.

Interns are coached actively on a daily basis. With each new assignment or story to cover, the intern will be given counsel, direction, contacts, any pertinent background information, and why the story is

relevant to the community.

Please submit resume and writing samples to northeastnewskc@gmail.com.
