Northeast News continues on award-winning path

The Missouri Press Advertising & Marketing Executives (MPAME) have announced the winners of this year’s Best Ad Contest, and once again, The Northeast News is proud to have received top honors in three categories.

Winning entries appeared in the pages of the Northeast News during 2023, as follows:

1st Place, Best Full-Page Ad– “Winter Magic” for Kansas City Parks & Recreation, by Lillian Taylor and Michael Bushnell

2nd Place, Best Print Ad Campaign– “Past, Present, Future on Independence Avenue” for the weekly Northeast Chamber of Commerce/ Independence Avenue CIDcenter spreads, by Bryan Stalder and Michael Bushnell

1st Place, Best Newspaper Produced Insert– Neighborhood Map and 2024 Calendar for the Kansas City Museum, by Lillian Taylor, Michael Bushnell, and Dorri Partain

A full-color poster of the Historic Northeast neighborhood map, suitable for framing, is available at our “Little Shop of News” at 2659 Independence Blvd. for a donation of $10.00.

Dorri Partain

A graduate of Central Missouri State University, Dorri’s first foray into journalism began at Maple Woods Community College. Her love for old homes brought her to Historic Northeast in 1986. Immersed in the community, she developed a love for its parks, with Indian Mound and Cliff Drive holding a special place in her heart. Dorri’s journey with the Northeast News began in 1998, where she contributed a freelance feature column until 2006. In 2016, she officially joined the News staff, bringing her storytelling skills to the wider community. Outside of her work at Northeast News, Dorri is a devoted mother to two sons and three kitty companions. An avid vintage collector, her collections include matchbooks and other incredible items that are quite familiar within our “Remember This” weekly feature.
