Two Hispanic males robbed a Northeast hair and nail salon at gunpoint at 2:34 p.m. today.
Across the street, children from Holy Cross Catholic School were playing on the playground.
“This is a rare, spontaneous type of deal,” said Kansas City Police Department Sgt. Chris Price.
Although hair salons are often targets of robbery, it usually doesn’t occur during daytime hours, he said.
Approximately seven people were inside Estetica Illussion, Denver and St. John, during the robbery. The two males, who each carried a handgun, stole an unknown amount of cash from the register as well as cash and other items from patrons inside. No one was injured.
The two males fled north in an unknown vehicle.
