Movie Night at the Elmwood

Elmwood Cemetery Society will be showing ‘Frankenstein’ at Elmwood Cemetery (4900 Truman Road) Saturday, Oct. 19. General admission entry starts at 6 p.m. and the screening will begin at 7 p.m. VIP Reception begins at 5:45 pm. Dia de los Muertos

People of all ages are invited to attend the sixth annual Day of the Dead celebration in Kessler Park at Scarritt Point (parkland just west of the Kansas City Museum at 3218 Gladstone Blvd). This free event will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m Sunday, Oct. 20. Sugar skulls will be available to purchase and food trucks will be there as well.

Little Shop of Horrors
Wednesday October 23
The EGG (Economic Growth Gallery) building will host the Historic Northeast happy hour and public “open house” voting event as part of 2019 Partners in Preservation: Main Streets Campaign Wednesday, Oct. 23. This free event will show the 1960s film Little Shop of Horrors at 4 p.m. with a repeat showing at 6 p.m. at 2659 Independence Boulevard. This Halloween-themed event will have all the amenities of a 1960s film. Period costumes are encouraged.

Graveyard 5K Run and Walk
Saturday October 26
The 3rd Annual Graveyard 5k will be Saturday, Oct. 26  from 9 am to 12 p.m. The race takes place at Elmwood Cemetery. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. and all runners must be checked in by 8:45 a.m. Tickets $15 – $40 at www.eventbrite.com.

3rd Annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch

The Indian Mound and Lykins Neighborhood Associations will be hosting their 3rd Annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin patch Saturday, Oct. 26. This free event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Indian Mound Park. Stop by for cider, donuts, crafts, games, and pony rides. Kids can also take home a free pumpkin!

Cliff Hanger Run 5k and 10k

This year’s Cliffhanger Run will be Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Registration is now open and runners will receive a long sleeve shirt, a custom medal and bib, and free photos/ There will also be a bounce house, kids run, breakfast and the best fall colors in Kansas City!

Kansas City Tweed Ride
Saturday, November 2nd
BikeWalkKC is hosting the 10th annual Kansas City Tweed Ride on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Concourse Park. They will begin to gather at 10:30 a.m., but the ride will begin after all of the Cliff Hanger Run runners are off of the course. Everyone is encouraged to wear turn-of-the-century clothing, either vintage or steampunk, no spandex. All bikes are welcome, but any vintage, antique, or vintage-inspired decorations are encouraged.
