We’re not holding our breath for a complete, top-down paradigm shift in the prosecutor’s office after the appointment of Jean Peters-Baker to the county’s top law enforcement gig, but area neighborhood associations would do well to garner an audience with the new prosecutor and forge some new prosecutorial priorities that focus more on quality of life crimes and property crimes — crimes currently not prosecuted by this administration. Not so long ago, the newly appointed legal eagle spent time in Northeast Middle School as a tutor, so she’s familiar with the crime and grime issues Northeaster’s face on a daily basis. Forging positive strategic partnerships and outlining priorities at the onset of the new prosecutor’s term could do much to upgrade the overall quality of life for Historic Northeast residents for many years to come.
