Mary Lynn Leggio

Mary Lynn Leggio, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on August 24, 2021, at St Luke’s Cardiovascular unit on the plaza.

Mary Lynn was born in Kansas City, Mo. on July 18, 1945, and was married to Angelo L. Leggio for 26 years until he passed away from brain cancer in 1991.  Mary Lynn also lost her son Larry, a KCFD firefighter who died in the line of duty on October 12, 2015. Additionally, Mary Lynn was preceded in death by her parents George and Fannie Donnici, her two brothers Gary and Donnie Donnici, as well as her granddaughter Nikki Lynn Leggio. She went through a lot losing so many during her life, but she kept on going. Mary Lynn is survived by her children Joe Mike Leggio (Michelle) and Angela Leggio-Graves (Larry), sister Florence Becchina, numerous cousins and friends, as well as her beloved daughter-in-law Missy Leggio. But her favorites of all she left behind are her four grandchildren: Nina Adams (Ryan), Joseph Leggio, Nicole Emmick, and Marissa Leggio.  They all loved their Nani and have so many wonderful memories of time spent with her.

Mary Lynn was a woman who would tell you like it is, whether you liked it or not.  She had strong opinions and a strong conviction for life.  Her life was centered around her family, and she loved hosting large family gatherings and Thanksgiving was her favorite.  In her mind, the bigger the party the better! Later in life, one of her favorite things to do was go to lunch with her girlfriends Florene, Fran, Margaret, Cindy, Florence, and Carolyn.  Mary Lynn loved you all and you made her happy.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a Eulogy at 11:45 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kansas City North. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
