Margaret Castagna passed away Jan, 28, 2012, in her home surrounded by family and friends.  She was born March 24, 1921, in Huntsville, Mo., and was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Ann Castagna, a brother Pete Castagna, sister Mary Bagby, sister-in-law Kathryn Castagna, and brother-in-law W.E. Bagby. 

She is survived by two brothers and their wives, Norman and Marge Castagna of Independence, Kan., and James and Rudie Castagna of Fort Madison, Iowa; her longtime friend and roommate, cousin Jennie DeStafano; plus several nieces and nephews.

Margaret went to school in Huntsville and Moberly, then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard serving during World War II.  Later, she worked in New York City and Kansas City.  She spent 34 years with Braniff International Airlines before joining All Points Travel Agency. She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and volunteered for many activities in the Northeast neighborhood. 

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to NorthCare Hospice and The Sister Servants of Mary Ministries to the Sick.  Contributions may be made in Margaret’s honor and memory to the Sister Servants of Mary, 800 N. 18th St, Kansas City, KS 66102.  Margaret requested a private service for family and cremation.
